DESERT STORM INVITATIONAL

Picture
The Desert Strom Invitational, hosted by Dixie High School, has come to be one of the toughest tournaments in western United States. Teams from multiple neighboring states, along with Utah power-house programs make the trek to St. George to compete. It's a traditional, double-elimination, format and it's a BATTLE to make it to the medal's stand. We anticipate you'll see some Green and Gold there when the dust settles.

Here are the details. Pay close attention as there are a number of unique situations for this tournament:

NOTE: There is not a girl's division at the Desert Storm Invitational.

Friday, December 16

7:30 AM - (DO NOTE BE LATE)
Home weigh-in (Scratch +2 pounds -  108, 115, etc.) in the Snow Canyon Wrestling Room (please arrive 5-10 minutes early). Only wrestlers that are competing Friday and Saturday need to show up early for weigh-ins (injured wrestlers no, Girls team no, etc.)

12:30 PM - (DO NOT BE LATE)
Arrive at the Snow Canyon wrestling room to check-in and begin our team warm-up. We will warm up as a team in our own wrestling room BEFORE riding the bus to Dixie High.

1:30 PM - Bus Leaves for Dixie High School.

2:00 PM - Wrestling Begins (or as close to 2PM as possible for teams that are late because of transportation issues). They have a target end time on Friday of 10:00 PM, but it could go even later depending on various factors. (Some will remember when the automatic timer turned of the gym lights and  matches were wrestled under the glow of a few hundreds cell phone lights.)

Saturday Dec 17

6:15 AM - Check in at Snow Canyon Wrestling Room (DO NOT BE LATE)

6:30 AM - Bus departs for Dixie High School (DO NOT BE LATE)

7:00 AM - Weigh-in (scratch +2 108, 115, etc)

9:00 AM - Wrestling begins.
Finals may begin anytime between 4:00 - 6:00 PM and usually take about 2 hours. The awards ceremony will immediately follow the finals. Plan to be done and back at Snow Canyon anytime between 6:30 - 8:00 PM

There will be a full concession stand available for wrestlers and fans. There will also be a livestream of the Varsity tournament at: https://www.youtube.com/@dixiehightv1267/featured.

JUAB WINTER CLASSIC

12/7/2022

Picture

The Warriors will hit the road again this weekend, this time for Juab. The Winter Classic in Nephi, Utah, has traditionally been another great tournament to sharpen our skills. We expect nothing less this year.

The Boys Varsity format is a dual tournament and the Boys JV and Extras will be placed in pools and use a round robin format based on their weight. The girls team will also get some mat time with a tournament that takes place on Saturday. For the Girls, this is a team event, if not enough teams they will have 6 girl round robins with every effort made to fill or combine teams and use extras).

Here are the details:

All wrestling will take place at the Juab Fieldhouse (802 North  650 East, Nephi, UT).

Friday, December 9

5:30 AM - Meet in wrestling room for check-in (DO NOT BE LATE)
6:00 PM - Bus leaves for Juab High School (DO NOT BE LATE)
10:30 AM  - Boys Weigh-ins (Scratch plus 2 pounds both days, 108, 115, etc.)
12:00 PM - Coach's Meeting
1:00 PM - Boys wrestling begins. There will be continuous wrestling for 5 rounds with no breaks. JV will run in the same building at the same time.

Saturday, December 10

8:00 AM - Varsity Boys and Girls team Weigh-ins at the Juab Fieldhouse (Scratch plus 2 pounds, 108, 115, etc. for the boys, and scratch plus 2 pounds for the girls 102, 107, etc.)
9:00 AM - Wrestling for both Boys JV, Boys Varsity and Girls begins and will run continuously with no breaks until approximately 5:30 PM.

A few things to keep in mind:
1- Boys Varsity, Boys JV and Girls will all take place in the same facility, The Juab Fieldhouse (802 North  650 East, Nephi UT)
2- The entrance is on the north side of the building, connected to the High School parking lot.
3- The facility has a lot of space, but not a lot of bleachers.  There is a central turf area and the wrestlers are encouraged to bring “camp” chairs and blankets and set up on the tarps over the turf.
4- Parking is going to be a challenge. It's limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents should plan on parking on adjacent streets and walking a bit.
6- If you need a hotel or would like an upgrade, there is a new hotel on the south side of town.  Holiday Inn Express, 1507 S Main St,  1-435-250-8777
