This is the highest we have ever finished at this tournament! Our only losses were to the #1 and #2 teams in the state for 4A. Going into this season, UHSAA had us ranked #4 in state for Utah 4A based on returning points scored at last years state tournament. The #3 Pre-Season Ranked Utah 4A team (Ridgeline) was at this tournament this weekend. So with us finishing 3rd this weekend, and Ridgeline finishing tied for 7th, these results should move us up one spot in the rankings for state! In looking at the statistics against other teams this weekend, we outscored Ridgeline 415 to 319! This is also interesting... Bear River is the #2 Pre-Season Ranked Utah 4A team. For the Boys Varsity Syracuse Tournament, Bear River beat us in a head-to-head dual 35-22. However, when comparing Snow Canyon and Bear River team scores against other opponents, we outscored Bear River 415 to 377! 2 more fun facts from the weekend... -During our dual vs Utah's 4A #1 ranked Mountain Crest, Brenden Smith upset Lincoln Lofthouse by Major Decision 9-1!!! Lofthouse was the WrestleUtah.com #1 ranked 144 lb wrestler in 4A. Would that make Brenden Smith the New #1 Ranked Wrestler in Utah 4A? -Senior Wrestler Edgar Renteria got his 100th Career Varsity Victory as a Snow Canyon Warrior Wrestler this Weekend!!! Wow! This has been one incredible season. Uncertainty over COVID-19 has marked the year, but like true WARRIORS we have overcome. With an undefeated regional championship under our belts and with 12 young men qualifiers and one young woman headed to STATE at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield, we're ready to end it full throttle.
