UVU Wrestling Camp 2017 - Coach Lang’s Notes
(links to videos will be added once they are ready) Jade Rauser -Collar tie with head on same side -Steering Wheel with Right Hand Collar Tie circling to the right, then circle other way, drop step, switch collar tie to triceps pull to sweep single -Steering wheel to side-step Double as you guide his head down and away -Inside Trip Erkin Tadzhimetov is in his 9th year as a coach at UVU. While in Uzbekistan, Erkin was a 9 time National Champion and a 3x Junior World place winner. He is currently one of the National Development coaches for USA Utah Wrestling. -Crease-Pull to Post and Penetration step to High C -Crease-Pull to Elbow Pass Snatch (deep step in front and then deep step behind with head pressure) -Crease-Pull to Elbow Pass, his near leg steps away, penetration step to High C -Crease-Pull to Elbow Pass to Blast Double -Crease-Pull to Shoulder Throw -Crease-Pull to Arm Spin -Power Fireman's Carry -Hit a double knee Left-handed Fireman's Carry to the other side when he pulls his target leg out of the way. Ben Kjar -Are you here to participate? Or are you here to Take Over?!!! -Other positive mindset training. -Low Single with Lasso Finish -Mis-direction Low Single with same Lasso Finish and lift trapped foot to his far shoulder. -3 H's as lines of defense: Head, Hands, Hips -3 keys to finishing a single on the feel: Move him, Lift his leg higher, attack muliple body parts. -Club/Collar with trail leg hand as you step in with lead leg, move him, circle out and release tie. Repeat. Then Club/Collar with the same hand as before, but step in with trail leg this time and you will be practically stepping on his foot. Take the Snatch single and finish. -Triceps pull to Sweep Single -Triceps pull to fake Sweep Single Mis-direction Double -High C Crack Down. Hook his elbow when he body locks. Roll over your head. Catch him in tight Dale Stack. Ethen Lofthouse is in his 3rd year as an assistant at UVU. Previously he won multiple national titles during his prep career. A 4x NCAA qualifier for the University of Iowa, Ethen was a 2x All American for the Hawkeyes. -Cael Sanderson Collar Tie and pull the inside tie down and push across and circle away from the collar tie. Ankle Pick and keep head, driving over trapped foot to put him on that hip. Or if you lose the head (or just prefer to release it), drop to a Low Single Lasso Finish. If he moves that foot away with his weight heavy on the other foot, get heavy on the head and drive him over that far foot for a far side pick to sweep single to secure the backside ankle or knee. -Cael's collar tie and wrist, circle away from collar tie and get weight on wrist side foot, push wrist to the outside of his leg and sweep. Be sure to pull head down and over to lean him toward his hands. -Collar and inside tie. Good head position and pressure in as you circle away from the collar tie. You will reverse your lead leg as you circle. Pressure in really hard to create space then drop step as you disappear and hit a left-handed sweep single pulling his head down and over to put his hands on the mat as you finish backside sweep single. -2-on-1 he pushes on your head. Post on the elbow of his arm that is posting on your head. Hit a left-handed High C. Luke Lofthouse enters his 2nd season at Utah Valley after joining Coach Greg Williams' staff in the summer of 2015. He spent 3 years as the strength and conditioning coach at the University of Iowa and was also an All American for the Hawkeyes in 2011. -Iron Man Standup Series -Counter the wrist ride if he is out to the side pressuring hard to pull our arm behind your back. -Counter the wrist ride if he is riding parallel and not pressuring as hard. -Drill mat returns and immediately get back to Iron Man or feet -Top work: hands in tight with belly hand elbow staying tight and elbow hand in on his ribs. Drive hard continually with your hips to put him on his hands. Use hands to block his knees or chop or spiral and use hips to explode through him to drive him flat with suffocating pressure.

He is currently one of the National Development coaches for USA Utah Wrestling). -Warm up - Jog - Skip - Jog - High Knees - Butt Kickers - Shuffle inside - Shuffle outside - Jog - Kareoke inside then outside - Jog - 1 lap sprint - jog - 1 lap sprint - jog - hop on 1 leg 10 x's then the other - Front Rolls - Jog - 2 backwards rolls - 2 shoulder rolls each side - Cartwheels 1 each side - Frog Leaps x 5 - Penetration shots 3 each leg - Bear Crawl - Jog - Spread out... Review Stance and Motion - Coach calls out - Sprawl - Down Block - Sprawl - Sprawl - Sprawl - shot - shot- sprawl - shot - sprawl - shot - sprawl - time Front bridge 15 reps - Back bridge same - Bridge Kickovers each direction Find a partner and Review Session I with the 2-on-1 to Snatch Single with high Back Trip finish. 2-on-1 to Near Arm/Far Single (aka Outside Fireman's Carry) - Regular finish as well as Freestyle finish (turn to the hips. Coach Lang's Notes from UVU Wrestling Camp - Session I
Monday June 6, 2016 - Session I - Clinician Luke Lofthouse (3x Utah Wrestling State Champion at Mountain Crest. Spent 3 years as the strength and conditioning coach at the University of Iowa and was also an All American for the Hawkeyes in 2011). -Warm up Stance & Motion -Stance & Motion with shots & continue Stance & Motion -Same but add Down Blocks & Sprawls -Same but this time wrestlers in active Stance & Motion and listen for coach to shout out actions and immediately hit the move and continue with Stance & Motion. Push Drill -Stay in good wrestling stance position take turns pushing opponent -Now do same but create an angle and pursue it (stay in good position) -This time angle to a 2-on-1 (baseball bat grip) - circle - drop step - drive to Single Leg Snatch with a high back trip finish. -Again, but opponent moves leg back... keep circling and continue to pursue relentlessly and out-hustle to get the Snatch. -Now from space... Attack the arm you want (same side wrist, climb up hand over hand - wrist, wrist, elbow, elbow - same pressure and angle to attack the Snatch Single with same finish. *If you were at the camp, these notes will make sense.
