Plan for a brief stop on the way north for a short bathroom break. 7:30 PM - Light workout in the Mountain View High School Wrestling Room 8:15 PM - Load bus to travel to hotel in Orem. 8:25 PM - Hotel check-in. Wrestlers and coaches pick up keys/room cards for assigned rooms.There will be several places to eat within walking distance of our hotel. If any wrestlers leave the hotel to get food at nearby locations, they must do so as teammates in groups of at least 2. Clear the building for 5A. 1:40 PM - Load the bus and drive back to hotel. If any wrestlers leave the hotel to get food at nearby locations, they must do so as teammates in groups of at least 2. Wrestlers competing in the tournament will receive a stamp as they enter the first time each day that will admit them for the rest of the day. Wrestlers and coaches with current UHSAA coaching credentials will enter through the tunnel on the north side of the building. Buses will not be allowed into the back lot area to drop off teams. Bring ID as it may be required. A participant check-in list will allow wrestlers into the building through the wrestlers’ entrance the first time each day. All others (wrestlers not competing, cheerleaders, bus drivers, etc.) must have a ticket or pass and will be admitted through the ticket office. Team Managers/Team Statisticians must enter with the team. Team Managers/Team Statisticians will NOT be allowed matside. A maximum of two UHSAA credentialed coaches will be allowed at the designated corner of each mat. Coaches must wear their credential in a fashion that is clearly visible to event personnel. Weigh-In; Skin Check The Weigh-in will take place in the dance studio on the upper floor of the north end of the UCCU Center. The weigh-in will be conducted by weight class according to rule 4-5-3. Wrestlers must report when their weight class is called. Wrestlers will enter the weigh-in area from the west and exit through the east end of the room. Any wrestler that is disqualified from wrestling because of a skin condition will be replaced by the alternate wrestler from the divisionals qualifying tournament. If the alternate wrestler from the disqualified division is not eligible to wrestle, then the alternate from the alternative division in the same classification will be eligible to wrestle. An on-site, designated meet physician will be present to rule on suspect skin conditions. Wrestlers should be prepared to present their own physician’s statement at this time. As per rule 4-2-4 the on-site designated tournament physician “may over-rule the diagnosis of the appropriate health care professional signing the medical release form...” Wrestlers with scratches or abrasions may be required to cover them for their own protection from potential infection. As per rule 4-2-3 “Covering a communicable condition shall not be considered acceptable and does not make the wrestler eligible to participate.” A reminder of the rule regarding the weigh-in: Rule 4-5-7: “All contestants (male and female) shall weigh in wearing a suitable undergarment that completely covers the buttocks and the groin area. Female contestants must also wear a suitable undergarment that covers their breasts...” The tournament will be run using Trackwrestling software. Brackets will be updated and available from a link on the Wrestling page of the UHSAA website www.uhsaa.org and on the www.trackwrestling.com web-site throughout the tournament. Please ensure proper health guidelines are met and followed at the Division Tournaments. Wrestlers should be groomed in accordance with rule prior to reporting to the weigh-in. Medical personnel will check all wrestlers for communicable skin conditions immediately following the State Tournament weigh-in. A doctor’s clearance on the approved form will be required for any questionable skin conditions subject to rule 4-2-4. The approved skin form is available on the “Wrestling” page of the UHSAA website. http://www.uhsaa.org/forms/skinform.pdf Wrestlers will not be allowed to participate without proper clearance. Coaches should be prepared to provide any medical supplies necessary to cover scratches, abrasions, etc. that are required by designated tournament medical personnel for protection of the wrestler. The UHSAA will not provide supplies to wrestlers, please make preparations. Please bring a school medical kit to the tournament for use with your wrestlers. Awards First and second place team trophies will be awarded in all classifications. Six individual places will be scored and six medals awarded in the 4A, 5A, and 6A tournaments. No Outside Food Allowed in the Building THERE WILL BE NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED INTO THE UCCU CENTER. ONLY THOSE ITEMS REQUIRED BY EACH WRESTLER AND BROUGHT IN WITH THEM THROUGH THE WRESTLERS’ ENTRANCE WILL BE ALLOWED. PLEASE ADVISE YOUR WRESTLERS AND FANS! Cheerleaders No cheerleaders will be allowed on the floor until championship final matches in all classifications. Cheer squads are asked to not cheer lower than row 5 in the arena and not behind any scorers’ tables during the entire tournament. The UHSAA will only reimburse cheerleaders for the final day of the tournament. Cheerleaders are allowed at mat-side during final matches. Please remind the cheerleaders that they may not touch the mats while cheering. The Following are Strictly Prohibited from the State Wrestling Tournaments: a. large school flags, signs or banners of any kind including the type teams run through. b. noisemakers of any kind such as whistles, cow bells, horns, pop guns etc. c. balloons. d. megaphones, either in the stands or used by cheerleaders. e. confetti or shredded paper in the stands or on the floor. f. fans wearing no shirts (fans must wear shirts at all times) g. articles of any type thrown onto the floor. h. photographers on the wrestling floor level except those representing the UHSAA or credentialed media. No flash units are allowed on the floor level during wrestling. If flash units are used at all they should be used from the stands. Only credentialed media representatives are allowed on the floor. The UCCU Center will be utilizing a total of 9 mats for the competition, with 5 designated for boys and 4 designated for girls matches. Please note that all listed times are approximate and subject to change. Coaches/wrestlers/fans are reminded that matches may be moved from their originally scheduled mat; therefore, please remain aware of these potential changes by consistently checking the updated mat assignments on trackwrestling. The Utah Winter Classic in the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield, Utah is an individual bracket tournament that promises to provide high quality wrestling.
The Boys team will be taking everyone. All of the Varsity along with the JV and Extras. Here are the details: Tournament Location Sevier Valley Center 800 W 200 S Richfield, Utah 84701 *All wrestlers (Boys Varsity, Boys JV and extras) will be in the same building for the entire tournament. Friday, January 2, 2026 7:45 AM - All wrestlers meet in Wrestling Room for check-in (DO NOT BE LATE - Check your weight. Have all your gear? Wrestling shoes, headgear, singlet? Knee pads? Mouth guards?) 8:00 AM - Bus departs SCHS (DO NOT BE LATE) 11:30 AM Boys weigh-ins: (2 lb growth allowance with no additional allowance since no competitions were allowed on January 1: 108, 115, etc.) *Weigh-ins: To keep things running smoothly this year, we are going to utilize the auditorium in the front of the SVC for weigh-ins. We will have your team sign on a row of seats in the auditorium and ask that your team be seated there. Our referees and medical will call your team up on the stage when it's your turn to be weighed in. If any teams want to lend a scale, we'll gladly use it for weigh-ins to speed up the process. Boys JV will not need to weigh-in on Saturday. 12:30-1:30 PM Mats Available for Boys Warm-Up 1:30 - 3:30 PM Boys Varsity & JV Round 1 (Varsity on 6 Mats, JV on 4 Mats) 3:30 - 5:30 PM Boys Varsity & JV Round 2 (Varsity on 6 Mats, JV on 4 Mats) 5:30 - 7:30 PM Boys Varsity & JV Round 3 (Varsity on 6 Mats, JV on 4 Mats) 7:30 - 9:00 PM Boys Varsity Round 4 (10 Mats) 9:15 PM - Check into the hotel. Wrestlers and coaches pick up keys for assigned rooms. If any wrestlers leave the hotel to get food at nearby locations, they must do so as a group of at least 2. Wrestlers are NOT allowed to get in a vehicle to travel at this time. Not even with their parents. Be quick about it, avoid dangerous situations, no mischief, no funny business, no “meeting up” with anyone. Hustle back to the hotel once done. 10:30 PM - Everyone back in the hotel 11:00 PM - All wrestlers in their assigned rooms with lights out (no tv, electronics, etc). Nobody leaves their assigned rooms after 11:00 PM unless it is an emergency and you notify coaches. Saturday, January 3, 2026 8:30 AM Bus leaves hotel for Sevier Valley Center (plan to eat breakfast at hotel or take it to go BEFORE we load the bus to leave) 9:30 AM Boys weigh-ins: (2 lb growth allowance plus 1 lb: 109, 116, etc.) 10:30-11:30 AM Mats Available for Boys Warm-Up 11:30 AM - 12:45 PM Boys Varsity Round 5 (10 Mats) 12:45 - 2:45 PM Boys Varsity Round 6 (5 Mats) Boys Varsity Finals (1 Mat) Boys JV Round 4 (4 mats) 2:45 - 4:45 PM Boys Varsity Round 7 Placing matches (5 Mats) Boys JV Round 5 (5 Mats) Times are just estimates. If we finish early we will go into the next round. There will be a few mats outside the arena for warm up. Boys please allow the lower weights to warm up first as there will be limited space. Teams from multiple neighboring states, along with Utah power-house programs make the trek to St. George to compete. It's a traditional double-elimination format and it's a BATTLE to make it to the medal podium. We anticipate you'll see some Green and Gold there when the dust settles.
Here are the details. Pay close attention as there are a number of unique situations for this tournament: Tournament Format: Varsity – Double elimination bracket tournament placing top six JV Day 1 – Bracket tournament, placing the top four wrestlers. JV Day 2 – Bracket tournament continued; Round Robin bracket for JV wrestlers eliminated on Day 1. Friday December 19, 2025 11:15 AM Wrestlers meet in wrestling room to check in (Check your weight. Have all your gear? Wrestling shoes, headgear, singlet? Knee pads? Mouth guards?). 10th-12th grade wrestlers get out of 3rd period at 11:10 AM and should just head straight to the wrestling room at that time. 9th grade wrestlers will be excused from school at 11:00 AM and will need to hustle up to the high school wrestling room. 11:30 AM - Bus Leaves for Dixie High School. 12:30 PM - Skin Checks and Weigh-ins (scratch +2 108, 115, etc) 2:00 PM - Coaches Meeting 2:30 PM - Wrestling Begins (or as close to 2PM as possible for teams that are late because of transportation issues). They have a target end time on Friday of 10:00 PM, but it could go even later depending on various factors. Saturday December 20, 2025 7:00 AM - Check in at Snow Canyon Wrestling Room (DO NOT BE LATE. Check your weight. Have all your gear? Wrestling shoes, headgear, singlet? Knee pads? Mouth guards?) 7:15 AM - Bus departs for Dixie High School 8:00 AM - Weigh-in (scratch +2 108, 115, etc) 9:30 AM - Wrestling begins Varsity Finals may begin anytime between 4:00 - 6:00 PM and usually take about 2 hours. The awards ceremony will immediately follow the finals. Plan to be done and back at Snow Canyon anytime between 6:30 - 8:00 PM They will be streaming the varsity tournament in the main gym on their youtube channel for any parents or fans not able to attend at https://www.youtube.com/@dixiehightv1267 They will be offering full concessions for all wrestlers, fans and attendees. Reminder: The JV tournament will be a double elimination bracket tournament. They will have a second round robin tournament on Saturday for all JV wrestlers that were eliminated on Friday. This should allow for a completion of the JV tournament and get those JV wrestlers matches that were eliminated on Friday. This should hopefully get those JV wrestlers 6 to 7 matches for the weekend.
