Coach Lang's Notes from UVU Wrestling Camp 2018 - Session 8 with Erkin Tadzhimetov - 2-on-1 Series
(These notes will make more sense if you watch the video first, or were actually at the camp) Thursday June 14, 2018 1:30-4:30pm Warm up with jogging, tumbling, dynamic stretching, etc... 2-on-1 Series Get the 2-on-1, good head position, no space, high on shoulder, move him. Keep weight high on his shoulder and get heavy on it. Keep your elbows pinched at your sides. 2-on-1 to Snatch Pressure in then pull to make him step as you get heavy on the 2-on-1. When he reacts by pulling up and away, step behind near leg, drive his wrist across the front of his leg, secure his leg with a tight lock, everything tight and good head pressure. Finish your takedown. *When you attack the leg, you do not have to lower your level and shoot. Just step in and lock up. -If he posts on your head and keeps his near leg away (Don't go for this immediately, continue pressuring and pulling to try for Snatch). Post up on his post hand for a Far Side High C. You will need to penetrat on the shot. *This works with a Far Side Sweep/Swing Single as well as a Far Side Double.. -Shuck/Throw-By Secure the 2-on-1, pressure in, control the arm, step on near foot, pull and shuck/throw-by for the easy takedown. 2-on-1 to Fireman's Carry Pressure in, he keeps near leg back and away. Pull, then step forward with outside foot, keep 2-on-1 high, clear under it as you drop to outside leg knee (or both knees), keep back upright and extended, finish the Fireman's Carry. *Don't keep hanging onto his leg after the toss. Once he clears over the top, release his leg and let your head clear. Keep arm and cover your head and free arm over his chest to keep him on his back. Now chain it all together. Each guy hit each of these moves for 1 minute.

Coach Lang's Notes from UVU Wrestling Camp 2018 - Session 7 with Ethen Lofthouse...
(These notes will make more sense if you watch the video first, or were actually at the camp) Thursday June 14, 2018 9am-11:30am Warm up with jogging, tumbling, dynamic stretching, etc... FHL Defense - Center your head under his chest. Lift your head up and make him feel the pressure. Attack his chin hand at the elbow. Drive your head under and across his chest toward his pit side hand as you circle up to your feet in 2-on-1 position. And stay off your haunches! Also, block his same side hip with your trapped arm as you get to your feel while you circle to the angle for the 2-on-1. *Once you have the 2-on-1 on your feet after clearing the FHL, continue circling (360 or more if necessary) as you pressure in looking for your offense. **Drill this position EVERY DAY!!! Lose your fear of getting caught under someone when you shoot. Finish a Head Outside Single (High C)... -Keep chest tight to his leg (no space). Step up with your trail leg as you pull your elbows in and back. Knee slide up with your attack leg and recover to good position with head up and hips in line with good position and trail leg up and out. Step and knee slide several times and circle to feel the proper position. *Before you go to your feet, swivel lead leg ankle (windshield wiper). Elbow deep with your outside arm. Lean head in tight as you look across his back. Drive to your feet and don't go double until his weight has shifted to his free leg. Crackdown Position - Keep shoulder in tight, seal your outside elbow tight to your waist, slide attack hand down below his knee, keep head off mat, turn hips sideways (facing the leg you have). Drive shoulder into his groin, bridge your hips off the mat, reach back and head hunt with free hand, catch his head elbow deep, hip heist and circle back towards his head on attack side and finish to Bottom Leg Cradle. *You have to seal and push back. Countering the chest lock when you have him in Crackdown position... Split his legs, swivel your hips, dig attack leg to shelf on your hips as you turn hips back down and step up. Crowd him and switch to a Double Leg/reach around waist. If he blocks your reach, reach down under inside of his ankle and elevate as you crawl in to kind of shelf that too. Crowd him and look for back points. Variation to countering his chest lock in that position... Shelf his leg from the outside. Head Inside Single finishes... -He sprawls and stuffs. Post your free hand and pull on leg as you crawl in with both knees, elevate your upper back and pressure up with your head, get the angle and drive up to your feet. Run the Pipe to create space and clear leg to elevate it all the way up. Keep the pressure, keep him moving, back trip, put his hands on the mat, climb the leg like a rope, secure double and be ready to transition to next move. -If he collar ties, with your hand that is highest up on his leg, v-block him just above the elbow, shuck it away hard and finish. -Iranian... Post and slide deep between his legs to drape him over, pull down on low leg, post up on high leg, step up with your high leg side foot, launch him up, turn toward the low leg and swivel ankles away to protect them. *Attack the low leg in a scramble. Seatbelt... Post hand and get both knees over ankle to force it out. Post head down, grip the bottom of his laces with your free hand. Shelf it on outside and step over his far ankle or leg to finish (right to Ankle Lace or other turn). Coach Lang's Notes from UVU Wrestling Camp 2018 - Session Six with Luke Lofthouse...
(These notes will make more sense if you watch the video first, or were actually at the camp) Wednesday June 13, 2018 1:30-4:30pm Warm up with jogging, tumbling, dynamic stretching, etc... -Get to "Wrestler's Position"/"Base Position" -Better to get a sure 1 point escape rather than a "maybe grind it out" reversal. Unless you end up in such a dominant position that its pretty much a done deal. Counter offense from feet... -Partner has your leg up with a high finish on a single leg. Partner moves you around in every direction while you maintain balance. Work both sides and then switch places. -To counter the high single: 1. get your chest heavy on partners back . 2. Squat. 3. Curl you your heel to your butt. Then stuff his head under your chest and finish the counter to score. Coach Lang's Notes from UVU Wrestling Camp 2018 - Session Five with Luke Lofthouse (Bottom Wrestling Position Simplified)...
(These notes will make more sense if you watch the video first, or were actually at the camp) Wednesday June 13, 2018 Warm up with jogging, tumbling, dynamic stretching, etc... Review Over/Under with pushing, then push and angle off, then angle off to attack Snatch or High C. Review Underhook Offense from feet, then same with Inside Tie. Bottom Wrestling Position Simplified Bottom from belly... Push off the mat using the "fat" part of your palms (on pinky side). No elbows! Push back and bring your knees up as you move. Never stop moving! Chain your knee slides, changeovers, switches, shoulder rolls/granby's, etc. together. Aggressively move right into the next move! Eliminate gaps and pauses. Beating the Crosswrist... 1. Move (knees under chest) 2. Elbow on his/her thumb to clear the wrist. 3. Once you've cleared your wrist, keep your elbows on your hips. 4. Keep moving! Bottom --> Space + Movement or Movement to create space. Beat the Inside Wrist... Look into it, pinch elbow in tight, drive same side knee up, ball up, post on free hand, slide far knee up and finish Inside Changeover. *If no pressure, move and knee slide. **If there is pressure, meet it! "What you think you are, you are!" -Luke Lofthouse Beat the Leg Ride... 1. Move 2. Attack the clamp (hip down or mule kick to hip down or knee slide up into chest) Use top hand to scrape off the other leg leg/prevent other leg from coming in. Erkin - Hard dump, scrape hand off, then post same side hand to recover your base and swim across his waist. Luke - Dump, slide trapped leg the direction of his boot in leg. Scoot hips away (sag), scrape hand off waist, circle feet the direction of his boot in leg, clear inside arm between your bodies and around his waist. |
