Coach Lang's Notes from UVU Wrestling Camp 2018 - Session 7 with Ethen Lofthouse...
(These notes will make more sense if you watch the video first, or were actually at the camp) Thursday June 14, 2018 9am-11:30am Warm up with jogging, tumbling, dynamic stretching, etc... FHL Defense - Center your head under his chest. Lift your head up and make him feel the pressure. Attack his chin hand at the elbow. Drive your head under and across his chest toward his pit side hand as you circle up to your feet in 2-on-1 position. And stay off your haunches! Also, block his same side hip with your trapped arm as you get to your feel while you circle to the angle for the 2-on-1. *Once you have the 2-on-1 on your feet after clearing the FHL, continue circling (360 or more if necessary) as you pressure in looking for your offense. **Drill this position EVERY DAY!!! Lose your fear of getting caught under someone when you shoot. Finish a Head Outside Single (High C)... -Keep chest tight to his leg (no space). Step up with your trail leg as you pull your elbows in and back. Knee slide up with your attack leg and recover to good position with head up and hips in line with good position and trail leg up and out. Step and knee slide several times and circle to feel the proper position. *Before you go to your feet, swivel lead leg ankle (windshield wiper). Elbow deep with your outside arm. Lean head in tight as you look across his back. Drive to your feet and don't go double until his weight has shifted to his free leg. Crackdown Position - Keep shoulder in tight, seal your outside elbow tight to your waist, slide attack hand down below his knee, keep head off mat, turn hips sideways (facing the leg you have). Drive shoulder into his groin, bridge your hips off the mat, reach back and head hunt with free hand, catch his head elbow deep, hip heist and circle back towards his head on attack side and finish to Bottom Leg Cradle. *You have to seal and push back. Countering the chest lock when you have him in Crackdown position... Split his legs, swivel your hips, dig attack leg to shelf on your hips as you turn hips back down and step up. Crowd him and switch to a Double Leg/reach around waist. If he blocks your reach, reach down under inside of his ankle and elevate as you crawl in to kind of shelf that too. Crowd him and look for back points. Variation to countering his chest lock in that position... Shelf his leg from the outside. Head Inside Single finishes... -He sprawls and stuffs. Post your free hand and pull on leg as you crawl in with both knees, elevate your upper back and pressure up with your head, get the angle and drive up to your feet. Run the Pipe to create space and clear leg to elevate it all the way up. Keep the pressure, keep him moving, back trip, put his hands on the mat, climb the leg like a rope, secure double and be ready to transition to next move. -If he collar ties, with your hand that is highest up on his leg, v-block him just above the elbow, shuck it away hard and finish. -Iranian... Post and slide deep between his legs to drape him over, pull down on low leg, post up on high leg, step up with your high leg side foot, launch him up, turn toward the low leg and swivel ankles away to protect them. *Attack the low leg in a scramble. Seatbelt... Post hand and get both knees over ankle to force it out. Post head down, grip the bottom of his laces with your free hand. Shelf it on outside and step over his far ankle or leg to finish (right to Ankle Lace or other turn).
