It’s a new year and a great time to experience a new tournament that we have never been to. The Utah Winter Classic in the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield, Utah is an individual bracket tournament that promises to provide high quality wrestling.
The Boys team will be taking everyone. All of the Varsity along with the JV and Extras. Here are the details: Tournament Location Sevier Valley Center 800 W 200 S Richfield, Utah 84701 *All wrestlers (Boys Varsity, Boys JV and extras) will be in the same building for the entire tournament. Friday, January 3, 2025 7:45 AM - All wrestlers meet in Wrestling Room for check-in (DO NOT BE LATE) 8:00 AM - Bus departs SCHS (DO NOT BE LATE) 11:30 AM Boys weigh-ins: (2 lb growth allowance plus 1 lb: 109, 116, etc.) 1:30 - 3:30 PM Boys Varsity & JV Round 1 (Varsity on 6 Mats, JV on 4 Mats) 3:30 - 5:30 PM Boys Varsity & JV Round 2 (Varsity on 6 Mats, JV on 4 Mats) 5:30 - 7:30 PM Boys Varsity & JV Round 3 (Varsity on 6 Mats, JV on 4 Mats) 7:30 - 9:00 PM Boys Varsity Round 4 (10 Mats) 9:15 PM - Check into the hotel. Wrestlers and coaches pick up keys for assigned rooms. If any wrestlers leave the hotel to get food at nearby locations, they must do so as a group of at least 2. Wrestlers are NOT allowed to get in a vehicle to travel at this time. Not even with their parents. Be quick about it, avoid dangerous situations, no mischief, no funny business, no “meeting up” with anyone. Hustle back to the hotel once done. 10:30 PM - Everyone back in the hotel 11:00 PM - All wrestlers in their assigned rooms with lights out (no tv, electronics, etc). Nobody leaves their assigned rooms after 11:00 PM unless it is an emergency and you notify coaches.  The Desert Storm Invitational, hosted by Dixie High School, has come to be one of the toughest tournaments in the Western United States. Teams from multiple neighboring states, along with Utah power-house programs make the trek to St. George to compete. It's a traditional double-elimination format and it's a BATTLE to make it to the medal podium. We anticipate you'll see some Green and Gold there when the dust settles.
Here are the details. Pay close attention as there are a number of unique situations for this tournament: Tournament Format: Varsity – Double elimination bracket tournament placing top six JV Day 1 – Bracket tournament, placing the top four wrestlers. JV Day 2 – Bracket tournament continued; Round Robin bracket for JV wrestlers eliminated on Day 1. Friday December 20, 2024 7:30 AM - (DO NOT BE LATE) Home weigh-in (Scratch +2 pounds - 108, 115, etc.) in the Snow Canyon Wrestling Room (please arrive 5-10 minutes early). Only wrestlers that are competing Friday and Saturday need to show up early for weigh-ins. 12:15 PM - Arrive at the Snow Canyon wrestling room to check-in. 10th-12th grade wrestlers get out of school at 12:10 PM Friday, so just head straight to the wrestling room after school. 9th grade wrestlers will be excused from school at 12:05 PM and will need to hustle up to the high school wrestling room. 12:30 PM - Bus Leaves for Dixie High School. 1:30 PM - Coaches Meeting 2:00 PM - Wrestling Begins (or as close to 2PM as possible for teams that are late because of transportation issues). They have a target end time on Friday of 10:00 PM, but it could go even later depending on various factors. Saturday December 21, 2024 7:15 AM - Check in at Snow Canyon Wrestling Room (DO NOT BE LATE) 7:30 AM - Bus departs for Dixie High School 8:00 AM - Weigh-in (scratch +2 108, 115, etc) 9:30 AM - Wrestling begins Finals may begin anytime between 4:00 - 6:00 PM and usually take about 2 hours. The awards ceremony will immediately follow the finals. Plan to be done and back at Snow Canyon anytime between 6:30 - 8:00 PM They will be streaming the varsity tournament in the main gym on their youtube channel for any parents or fans not able to attend at https://www.youtube.com/@dixiehightv1267 They will be offering full concessions for all wrestlers, fans and attendees. The JV tournament will be a double elimination bracket tournament. They will have a second round robin tournament on Saturday for all JV wrestlers that were eliminated on Friday. This should allow for a completion of the JV tournament and get those JV wrestlers matches that were eliminated on Friday. This should hopefully get those JV wrestlers 6 to 7 matches for the weekend. While our Boys Varsity team is competing at the Juab Winter Classic, our Boys JV and extras are heading to the Desert Hills Days of Thunder JV Tournament. We will be competing in a round robin tournament at the middle school with all JV teams. JV and extras wrestlers should expect to get 5-7 matches per wrestler over 2 days with this Round Robin format. The Desert Hills Middle School is located next to the high school. DECEMBER 13-14, 2024 @ Juab Fieldhouse 802 N 650 E, Nephi UT *Note, we are only taking our Boys Varsity Team to this tournament. The Warriors will hit the road again this weekend, this time for Juab. The Winter Classic in Nephi, Utah, has traditionally been another great tournament to sharpen our skills. We expect nothing less this year. We are only taking our Boys Varsity to this tournament while our Boys JV compete near home at the Days of Thunder Tournament at Desert Hills. The Juab Winter Classic Varsity tournament format is a dual tournament. All wrestling will take place at the Juab Fieldhouse (802 North 650 East, Nephi, UT). Here are the details: Friday, December 13, 2024 5:30 AM - Wrestlers meet in our Wrestling room to check in. (DO NOT BE LATE - and DO NOT park in a teacher’s parking space or a marked senior parking space) 6:00 AM - Bus leaves for Juab High School (DO NOT BE LATE) Planned brief stop at the Maverick in Fillmore for restroom, food, etc. 11:00 AM - Weigh-ins (Scratch plus 2 pounds both days, 108, 115, etc.) 12:00 PM - Coach's Meeting 1:00 PM - Boys wrestling begins. There will be continuous wrestling for 5 rounds with no breaks. 9:00 PM Hotel check-in. Wrestlers and coaches pick up keys/room cards for assigned rooms. If any wrestlers leave the hotel to get food at nearby locations, they must do so as teammates in groups of at least 2. We estimate our return arrival time to Snow Canyon High School to be around 9PM. A few things to keep in mind: 1- Boys Varsity will all take place in the same facility, The Juab Fieldhouse (802 North 650 East, Nephi UT) 2- Buses will drop wrestlers off on the south side, roadside so that buses do not have to enter through the high school parking lot. 3-For parents and other spectators, the entrance is on the north side of the building, connected to the High School parking lot. 4- The facility has a lot of space, but not a lot of bleachers. There is a central turf area and the wrestlers are encouraged to bring “camp” chairs and blankets and set up on the tarps over the turf. 5- Parking is going to be a challenge. It's limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents should plan on parking on adjacent streets and walking a bit if the facility parking lot is full. Wrestling Tournament @ Syracuse High School December 6-7, 2024 Syracuse High School 2000 W 665 S. Syracuse, UT 84075 The pre-season and the wrestle-offs are over. We've established the varsity squad and it's time to put to trial what we think is possible. There's really no better place to do that than at the Syracuse Scuffle. We've been going to Syracuse for years because it's one of the toughest dual tournaments available and we're ready for tough. The varsity will wrestle 8-9 duals (4 duals on Friday, 4-5 duals on Saturday) against teams from all around the state. Periods will be 1:30, 1:30, 1:30. The JV and extras will be placed into round robin brackets. Periods will be 1:30, 1:30, 1:30, but may be adjusted as time allows. The lower half of the JV weights (under 145) will wrestle on Friday and the upper half (over 145) will wrestle on Saturday. This is an extension of our own team’s practice with the opportunity to showcase our top two wrestlers at each weight class as the season kicks off to a great start. The exciting twist is that we will also feature Alumni Matches with some of our greatest wrestling talent from the Warrior Nation. These Alumni Warriors will battle it out to put on a show and allow fans to buy "points" ($1 for 1 point) towards their favorite wrestler. Green & Gold Night puts the FUN in FUNdraiser, and this exciting and memorable night helps support our wrestlers this season. The action starts at 7:00 PM in the main gym at Snow Canyon High School this Tuesday, December 3, 2024. FREE admission to the public!
